Drinking age should be lowered- noted
-many countries in Europe, such as Italy have he legal drinking age at 16. They are allowed to consume and purchase alcoholic beverages.
- from a first person source, in Italy, drinking was just a common thing. It wasn't a thing you did to get drunk or to entertain yourself. It is something that is very pleasurable in small quantities.
- is a better alternative to kids walking around with fake ID's, which is a felony offense in just about every estate in America.
- will give kids a chance to realize that alcohol is not something that should be abused, but somthing that should be done in moderation and to enjoy, not just to get completely trashed.
- would take away the fun of doing somthing that is " against the rules". Could stop kids who are just doing it to look cool and be crazy.
- the reality is, kids are going to drink under the age of 21. If it is lowered then not as many kids will get in trouble and have a drinking ticket or worse on the permanent record.
- in the United States, you are allowed to join the military at the age of 18 years old, it is a little ridiculous that someone would be able to risk their life's for their country, but not be able to sit in a bar with his buddies and share a drink or two.
- kids who are under the age of 21 in a college setting are not able to drink in bars where it is much more expensive and they would be less likely to get drunk. Instead they get a huge bottle of alcohol or a 30 rack and drink their basements or dorms and if someone passes out and needs to be brought to the emergency room, then everyone is hesitant to do so because they are afraid of getting arrested for underage drinking. Lowering the drinking age would save thousands of life's to alcohol poisoning and other things that happen when students could be under a controlled environment.
- student body presidents of many universities are trying to have the legal drinking age changed for the kids at their schools.
- I think that the government is not giving up the drinking age because it is a cash cow for local government offices, because there are so many tickets that need to be paid for underage drinking that it would be a legitimate loss to the government offices.
- it would be good for the economy. Instead of having to steal it from your parents or have your brother or friends to get you alcohol, they could just get it themselves which would bring in a lot of revenue for the state and local wine and spirit shops.
- it would keep kids out of trouble with their parents, and god knows that there is enough arguing in the world. It would make it a lot easier for kids to go out and not having to worry about a cop coming up to you or your parents wording that you are drinking because it would be legal and there would be nothing that they could say.
