                                                                Monologue 2- Rudy's motivation speech


   When looking at the first two monologues, I noticed many differences. I think that it was easier to memorize the first one, because I wrote that monologue myself. Monologue 2 which is a monologue that is spoken by the janitor at Notredame's football stadium to Rudy who walked on to the football team and didn't get to dress for 2 years so he quit. I found that this one was not too hard to memorize, but it just didn't sound like something I would have to say. Another thing that challenged me in the second monologue is that I had to put more emotion into the performance. It took a lot more time practicing in the mirror and looking over the monologue for the second rather than the first but it was more fun in my opinion. From watching others preform their dramatic monologues I learned many things that I liked and disliked. For example I liked that Evan worked the room and there as a lot of energy that went into his monologue. I really liked the content or jacks monologue and how long it was. I liked Hannah's and how she used a "white girl accent". I notified that some people were more comfortable than others in being dramatic. I am still not that comfortable with acting and being "dramatic" and I need to work on that because it is a great skill to be able to be comfortable anywhere you go. I still need to do a little more memorizing until I can do it completely but I think I am close to a finished product. I also notified that I need to find a good and comfortable position when standing and doing my dramatic monologue. Also, I need to decide when I want to point and make hand gestures so it natural and doesn't seem awkward. I don't make many hand gestures when I speak normally so it feels weird for me to do it anytime I am talking. I thought I did a good job if projecting my voice and looking at the audience. I had a hard time remembering the part after the intro but I think if I slow down and take my time a little more than I could kill it. I was bummed that I wasn't able to do the monologue from good will hunting because that was a really cool one I thought. The fact that it actually had some real substance and I like the movie good will hunting a lot to begin with. I am excited to see what our next assignment is so I can find something I really like. I do like Rudy and it is a great movie and story. But it is not the same content as good will hunting and what Matt Damon said. I think that if I find a speech that I like and it's not to long I will definitely be doing it. I liked this assignment and how it kind of brought out class altogether further out of our comfort zones and it was fun to watch.
